ABOUT BRUGES
Bruges, known as "the Venice of the North" is one of
the most beautiful cities in Europe.
Bruges' history (including its most recent past) has made
the town what it is today: a jewel in the crown of beautiful
architecture and a town tailored to the needs of the
individual. It is a wonderful place to live and a haven for
tourists in need of a stimulating, yet relaxing break.
It is hardly surprising that in recent decades this town
has worked its way up to become Belgium's best-know tourist
centre. To attract between 3 and 4 million visitors is quite
an achievement!
The most important building is without doubt "The
Belfry"! It is not a church, nor it is a Town Hall, but a
symbol of freedom and wealth. The belfry can be seen as the
symbol of the town. 366 steps leads you to the top for a
breathtaking panoramic view of the Old Town and its canals.
Bruges can actually be seen as an open-air museum that
offers a lot more besides …
